Dear Parent(s):

Randolph Public Schools Office of Language Acquisition will participate in a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Approved Special Education School Program Review during the week of Dec 13, 2021. The Department is required by federal and state special education law to conduct periodic reviews of approved special education school programs throughout the Commonwealth. Program reviews include document, staff and student record review, observations of the facility including instructional areas, and interviews with a sampling of staff.

A detailed report of findings for the program will describe the implementation status of each program requirement reviewed by DESE. Where program standards are found not to be fully implemented, the school must propose corrective actions to DESE that bring those areas into compliance with the respective statutes or regulations. Approved special education school programs are encouraged to incorporate the corrective action activities into their improvement plans, including their professional development plan. The program is provided technical assistance from DESE in responding to this report. The findings will also note those program standards which the team found substantially implemented, and revised standards for which implementation is in progress. Both the Department’s report and the program’s response to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education are public information and hard copies are available to the public upon request. Program Review Final Reports and Corrective Action Plans are also available on the Department’s website.

Parents of Massachusetts students who are interested in having the opportunity to share perspectives about English Learner Program are invited to do so. All parents are invited to share feedback through an online survey, which can be accessed by clicking the link or scanning the QR code below with your smartphone camera. You may also receive an email directly from SurveyGizmo inviting you to complete the survey.

The survey is available online in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. If you require the survey in an alternate language or prefer a paper copy, you may contact David Valade in the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education at W 781-338-6711 or 413-314-6711 or via e-mail  Parents wishing to conduct a phone interview in place of taking the survey may also contact David Valade.  If you are not comfortable communicating in English, or require accommodation because of a disability, the Department will make appropriate arrangements.

We are confident that this Program Review will be a productive and positive experience for everyone involved and that the preparations, communications and report issued by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will be a helpful planning tool for the continued development of educational services for all students.

We look forward to hearing from you if you decide you would like to participate in Randolph Public Schools English Learner Program Review.
