Attendance Matters
- What is chronic absenteeism?
In Massachusetts, a student is considered chronically absent when they miss 10% or more of school days — that's about 18 days for a student enrolled the full 180-day school year. This includes all absences, whether they are excused, unexcused, or due to disciplinary reasons.
We know that even a few missed days here and there can add up quickly over the school year. That's why Randolph Public Schools tracks attendance closely — so we can catch patterns early and connect your family with support before small gaps become bigger challenges.
