Randolph Local Education Grant Information for Parents
The Local Education Fund Committee was established in Randolph in 1993 to administer the Local Education Fund which receives periodic voluntary donations from taxpayers. The money is used to supplement and enhance the work of the Town’s public schools. The Committee is asking for you help. In the past several years we were able to grant over $25,000 in requests for programs in the local schools. The programs which have been funded benefit all of the children who attend the Randolph Public Schools. There is a cost for these programs which enhance the basic curriculum of the school system.

Randolph College Academy planning continues

The Randolph College Academy will make college-level courses available to RHS juniors and seniors, and open up the opportunity for students to graduate with a liberal arts associates degree when they receive their high school diploma!  The current goal is to have 40 students from the class of 2013 enrolled into the academy in the upcoming 2011-2012 school year.  On May 6th the Randolph School Commitee voted to allow school administrators to continue planning for the academy.  Click below to find more information on RCA:

Leveraging Partnerships to Strengthen Education
One of the key strategies in the Randolph Public Schools' turnaround has been to develop external partnerships as a tool for district and school improvement. On Thursday, April 1st, Dr. Landman, the Assistant Superintendent, gave a presentation at the School Committee discussing the wide array of partnerships that are now flourishing and evolving here in Randolph. US Army names facility after Randolph native
The Army has named its new East Coast IT training facility after Randolph, Mass. Native Andrew Topham.  The center was dedicated last month to the former Army sergeant who graduated from RHS before joining the Army in 1999 and training as an information systems operations analyst. Andrew was deployed in November 2001 to Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.  The US Embassy in Afghanistan, which had been vacant since 1979 was one of the places he installed equipment.  He was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in Iraq in 2003.  He died in December 2006 at age 27.  His mother Laura is school secretary at the Young School.

Eat Local Campaign

Top Ten Reasons to Eat Local grown foods:
1. Freshness and Taste - Food grown in your own community is usually picked within a day or two of being sold.
2. Better for you - A recent study showed that the more miles from the farm to your table, the lower the nutrient content to you mouth.
3. Variety of Flavors - Farmers who sell locally are not limited to the typical varieties that are grown for long distance shipping.

District and School Improvement Planning

Currently, the Randolph Public Schools are operating under a five-year Strategic Plan. For the next two years, the state has identified priorities from that Strategic Plan that must be pursued first. These priorities are outlined in our Turnaround Plan. Each school also has a School Improvement Plan, linked to the district’s Strategic and Turnaround Plans. One aspect of each School Improvement Plan is a Family Engagement Action Plan. All of these plans are available online:  Click here

The Override and Turnaround Plan -- Already Making a Difference for Student Achievement

It’s only been a few months since the passage of the override and Turnaround Plan, but the first wave of evidence already shows that the community’s investment in the Randolph Public Schools, in combination with the changes underway across the system, are leading to improvements in student achievement. In both Language Arts and Mathematics, across all grade levels, and using a variety of assessment methods, we are seeing meaningful upward trends in student performance. There may be setbacks along the way, but we are off to a very promising start! Click here to review the data.

Community and School Symposium - Family Engagement

RHS Marching Band Uniform Campaign
While our band sounds first rate, they lack the tools necessary to match their look to the sound, namely no uniforms. This also inhibits our ability to participate in various other opportunities that require a uniform. Through the dedication, countless hours of hard work and donations on the part of many, our Booster organization was able to recently purchase 150 uniform polos for RHS band and choral students .The band wore them for the first time in the 2010 Memorial Day Parade. The impact was immediate and overwhelming! The shirts will continue to be used as our casual uniform for many years to come! The students take great pride in representing our community, participating in civic events and bolstering school and town pride. We can only imagine what other opportunities to advance the cause would occur with the purchase of marching band uniforms. Click here to find out how you can help.

Haiti Earthquake information
The following message was sent to all RPS families 01/13/2010:
This is Dr. Richard Silverman, Superintendent of Schools. I am calling in regard to the impact of the earthquake in Haiti on Randolph students and families.  In light of the recent tragic events in Haiti, many of our children may be experiencing difficulty. It will be important in the coming days to be aware of children who may be in need of additional support. Randolph Public Schools social workers, guidance counselors and psychologists will be available to meet with children individually and in small groups to provide assistance. Students can get support by speaking to a teacher, principal or any staff member in the school. Often the effects from this type of event on students do not appear for several days or weeks. Our staff will be available to provide support to your children whenever it becomes necessary. Please know that counseling and support will be available for students in Creole or French if necessary. If you are in need of counseling or support services in Creole or French, please contact the New Life Counseling and Wellness Center at 781-986-4800.
